The John Glenn School Board discussed the purchase of computers for the upcoming freshman class.
Technology Director Andrew Stegemiller explained to school board Tuesday night that he is recommending the purchase of 170 Lenovo E500 Chromebook computers instead of a lease because he thought that it would be more financially feasible at this time. Also, the company will give the school a small monetary amount if the IT Department can fix warranty issues in-house.
He did say the computers increased 30 percent in price from their previous purchase.
The incoming freshman, who would have these computers throughout their high school career, will have the opportunity to buy their computer at the end of their senior year.
The school board unanimously approved the purchase at a cost of $49,570.30. Money from the textbook user fees will pay for the cost of the devices.
