The Marshall County Health Department has free screening available for Hepatitis C.
According to Marshall County Health Department Administrator Christine Stinson, Hepatitis C can be acute or chronic. Acute hepatitis infection symptoms include nausea, vomiting, weight loss, abdominal pain, and jaundice. Chronic hepatitis C can last a lifetime with no visible symptoms. It can lead to cirrhosis of the liver or liver cancer.
Stinson invites Marshall County residents to get a free screening in the health department office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The test is simple and only takes 20 minutes to get results. No appointment is necessary.
The Marshall County Health Department is located in the Community Resource Center at 510 West Adams Street in Plymouth.
