Members of the Plymouth Fee Schedule Subcommittee met Tuesday afternoon where Cemetery Superintendent Jim Ousnamer presented a list of proposed changes.
An increase of $200 was proposed for a grave space anywhere in the cemetery with the exception of Whispering Pines Addition or Memorial Gardens Addition in New Oakhill Cemetery.
Weekday, weekend and holiday grave openings for an adult burial increased as well as fees for a grave opening for a cremation urn. Increases are also proposed for entombments, disinterment and chapel use.
The increases range from $100 to $250 for cemetery fees. Ousnamer said the fees hadn’t changed since 2006 and are comparable to Bremen and Warsaw.
Ousnamer also proposed scaling back the grave opening times from 4 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The committee members thought the increases were appropriate. The fees will bring the city in line with today’s costs.
Several other department heads proposed fee increases in a previous setting and those figures will be presented in new ordinances to be drafted by City Attorney Sean Surrisi. They will be presented in a future meeting for discussion and subsequent approval. They will be advertised after the ordinances pass.
