Six applications for the 50/50 sidewalk program made the list in Culver, but funding hit a snag upon final approval.
Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim explained to the Culver Town Council members last week that $8,000 was budgeted for the program this year, but the last sidewalk request received was just over $2,100 which put it over budget. She said there is money from other accounts that can be used in order to fund all requests, or the council members could decide to enact the first come, first served stipulation which would drop off the sixth applicant.
Town Council President Ginny Bess Munroe felt that they could move money around to accommodate all requests. She noted that the fund amount for the sidewalk program has fluctuated in the past few years, but the goal remains to improve sidewalks for the residents in Culver. The other two council members in attendance agreed and approved all projects as presented.
