The Marshall County Commissioners took action this week to approve two contracts for the highway department.
Highway Supervisor Jason Peters presented the council officials with a contract between the county and Wayne Houin to keep stone on two acres of his land. The contract is for two years, for $200 an acre. Peters said the time period may not be for that long, but they wanted to have the option for keeping the contract active for that amount of time. The contract was approved with a unanimous vote including a few revisions suggested by County Attorney Jim Clevenger.
The commissioners also approved a contract with USI Consultants for bridge inspection work for a term of four years at a total cost of nearly $310,000. Inspections will be conducted in four phases. The contract includes the inspection of 117 county bridges with nine requiring underwater analysis.
