Request for Proposal Paperwork Ready for LaPorte Street Footbridge Project

Requests for proposal information were recently submitted for the LaPorte Street Footbridge Project in Plymouth.

City Engineer Rick Gaul said requests for preliminary engineering for the right-of-way and construction engineering for the project were requested. Those will be let for bid for three separate contracts. Three volunteers will score the contractors once the RPFs return. That should occur in the first week of May.

The city was recently awarded $1.3 million in grant funds to restore the historic bridge. The city will funding the balance of the estimated $2 million cost of the project.

According to city officials, the downtown landmark will be reconstructed with a new bridge deck and railing, repair of the superstructure and substructure, full cleaning and painting of all components, and new ADA accessible approaches.
