Plymouth BOW Approves Street Closure Requests for the Cars and Coffee Events and St. Michael’s Race for Education

Two street closing requests were considered by Plymouth Board of Works members when they met on Monday.

In one request, Saint Michael’s Catholic School Secretary Molly Kuykendall asked to close Center Street from Madison to Monroe for the school’s annual Olympic Day Race for Education. The request included that they will not block the exit to county parking lot. Members noted that the request was unchanged from past years and approved it unanimously. The event will be held from 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23rd with the rain date set for May 24th.

Another request that received board approval came from John Montgomery for all the Cars and Coffee events planned from May through September. He told board members, “I wanted to make a request now that he weather has finally warmed up a little bit. The event is from 7 to 10 at the Mobil Gas Station. I am making a request to close Beerenbrook Street one block north and south of Jefferson Street.”

He also included that he would like the street to be closed one hour prior to the event and approximately one hour afterward for preparation and clean-up.

Montgomery added that the first Cars and Coffee event will be held next Saturday on May 5th. He said after that, they will be held at the same time and location on the first Saturday of every month through September, with final event taking place on September 1st.
