Two grant requests were brought before the Marshall County Council members this week.
Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director Clyde Avery asked to apply for the 2017 EMPG grant which allows reimbursement of half of his salary and benefits back to the county. He said all eligibility requirements have been met to meet obligations of the grant.
Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel requested permission to apply for a grant for officer safety.
“It’s a Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation grant to purchase ballistic vests for our officers doing transports,” said Hassel. “There’s no administrator, no salaries, no matching fees…if you get the funds you can buy funds. If you don’t, you don’t.”
The council members approved both grant requests with unanimous approval.
