The numbers show an uptick in construction in Marshall County. In his yearly report to the Marshall County Commissioners, Building Commissioner Chuck DeWitt said a record number of permits were issued in 2017.
“We did a total of 815 permits last year,” said DeWitt. “There was a total of $53,529,793 in valuation. When I started we had 153 registered contractors and now we have over 550.”
DeWitt added that there could be 250 jobs going on at the same time in the peak of construction season and it’s hard to get in the inspections that he needs to do, but he gets it done.
Commissioner Mike Delp said he hopes that they can find the resources to get some help in DeWitt’s department to help in what needs to be done in the county.
