Bourbon Fire Department Saves Around $10,000 By Purchasing Supplies at Auction

Bourbon Fire Chief Mike Chapman informed town council members that firefighters recently went to a public auction for the Osecola Fire Department where they were able to obtain some supplies at a significantly reduced price.

According to draft minutes from Tuesday’s meeting, Champan told members that they were able to purchase some hose and additional equipment for a total of $1,958 dollars. He stated that if the items were bought new, it could have cost close to $12,000. By buying them used, the fire department saved more than $10,000.

Additionally, Chapman submitted a quote of $13,450 from Zolie Vida Plumbing and Heating for 2 exhaust fans to be installed in the fire department building.

Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger reminded Chapman that the budget line item for building repairs is only $3,000 and asked him where the additional funds will come from. Chapman said the remainder could be taken from the Compton Donation Account.

The town council members voted unanimously to accept the quote.
