Proposed Job Description for Part-Time Code Enforcement Officer Goes to Consultant

Marshall County Planning Commission President Stan Klotz was before the Marshall County Council members this week asking to have consultant Waggoner, Irwin and Scheele to put together a job description for a part-time code enforcement officer.

The company’s representatives would finalize the description and recommend a salary range for the position for approval by the county council. The planning commission members recently unanimously approved the proposal to the company for development.

Klotz previously told the council that there are issues with code enforcement in the county and believes there needs to be an additional employee to focus on code enforcement. It is the hope of the plan commission that a part-time person can be hired to work two days a week. One day would be out in the field and another to be spent in the office.

The officer would work strictly for the Board of Zoning Appeals, not for the planning director, to help with the work and code enforcement.

The county council members voted unanimously to send the proposed job description to Waggoner, Irwin and Scheele for a recommendation.
