The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members discussed an amended agreement for land sale proceeds in the techFarm when they met Monday evening.
Board member Shawn Grobe said the resolution presented outlines the three aspects he wanted to see in the agreement.
“I want to keep it simple so it’s clear where the funds go, this board has oversight and the intent for the funds,” said Grobe. “We can debate those now.”
The previous agreement proposal asked that a three-member commission be formed to make a recommendation of how the techFarm land proceeds should be spent. The board members had an issue with that, but not with the stipulation that priority be given to spend that money on projects within the techFarm or use the funds as an incentive to complete a sale. The last consideration would be given to fund city projects.
Board member Jeff Houin said the wording in this new resolution solves some issues he had with the original document.
“It talks about priorities and that the highest priority would be given to uses improving the infrastructure and assisting with site work in the techFarm or a real estate adjacent thereto, and/or be waived as an incentive for techFarm lot purchasers,” said Houin. “A second priority consideration is given elsewhere within the City of Plymouth. I like that language better because I think it gives us a little flexibility. At the same time, it addresses the concerns that I had about us, as the Board of Public Works and safety, not relinquishing our control.”
After hearing the comments, the board members unanimously approved the resolution.
