Marshall County Council Approves Additional Appropriation for Job Description Work

The Marshall County Council members took action Monday morning to approve an additional appropriation request.

A $50,000 additional appropriation was approved for the services of Waggoner, Irwin and Scheele to cover the hourly wages of work done to update the county employee job descriptions and wages.

Kent Irwin from the consultant group presented services to the council in mid-September to prepare job descriptions and determine wages for recommendations for the 154 positions in the county. According to Irwin, the last time the job descriptions were overhauled was in 1989.

The work would take six to eight months and the contract price is $45,000. The council previously approved setting up a line item in the budget for $50,000. The project will be complete in mid-2018.

Auditor Julie Fox said the company should have all of the information needed to begin their data collection by Nov. 22. Fox clarified that there is money in the budget for this expenditure. The approval of the additional appropriation request gives the council the permission to spend the money and keeps paperwork in line with the Department of Local Government Finance.
