The Marshall County Commissioners last week opened bids for the Shady Rest farm ground lease for a period of three years.
Every three years the commissioners are required to lease out the farm ground area per statute. There are approximately 160 acres.
Three bids were received and were read aloud by County Attorney Jim Clevenger. The lowest bid came from Robin Roberts in the amount of $188.50 an acre while the highest bid came from MDAR Properties, Inc. for $276 per acre.
The commissioners did approve the highest bid from MDAR Properties, Inc. upon the review of the bid and contract. Clevenger noted that the agreement is the same as it has been for the past several bid processes, but everything will be checked to ensure all is correct.
