Plymouth Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt asked the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members Monday night to ratify a bid presented to them at the prior meeting for street and sidewalk work.
Plymouth City Attorney Sean Surrisi opened bids for the projects during the Oct. 11 meeting. Following the meeting Chris Marshall with the city engineer’s office reviewed them and the lowest bid provided by Walsh and Kelly was found to be within the specifications requested.
Two airport projects were removed due to budget constraints so the amended bid approved totaled $1,087,421.19. Even then, an $8,000 shortfall was realized. A resolution to move money within the Motor Vehicle Highway Department funds to complete funding for the list of paving projects was presented to the Plymouth City Council for consideration. The resolution was unanimously approved.
In addition to the paving projects, the resolution included an $8,000 cost for a survey on Liberty Street as requested by City Engineer Rick Gaul.
There are about 30 individual projects that the city will be doing. Many will be done yet this year with others continuing in the spring of 2018.
