The John Glenn School Corporation was recently awarded a $188,500 Lilly Endowment grant.
Superintendent Richard Reese explained to the school board Tuesday night that the grant will help with counseling services.
“This basically has to with us hiring another counselor, particularly K-8, to assist in career to work stuff,” said Reese. “This will give kids more of a feeling for what’s necessary to be successful in the workplace.”
Superintendent Reese added that the grant amount was based on the student enrollment in 2016. The corporation’s Average Daily Membership (ADM) count last year was approximately 1,885 and the corporation could apply for up to $100 for each student.
Interviews will be conducted in the next few weeks for a counselor and an aide for four years.
