Two Arrested after Traffic Stop
Two people were arrested following a traffic stop early Tuesday morning in Marshall County.
A Marshall County sheriff’s deputy pulled over a light blue Chrysler Concord passenger vehicle in 11,000 block of Veterans Parkway and U.S. 31 after the driver allegedly committed several traffic violations. Continue reading
City of Plymouth Looking to Increase Water, Sewer Rates
The Plymouth City Council heard a proposal from Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver, and Eric Walsh from Umbaugh and Associates concerning an increase in water and wastewater rates.
Plymouth City Attorney Sean Surrisi told MAX 98.3 FM News that with Bay Valley Foods and Del Monte closing at the end of year, the city council learned that water and wastewater treatment revenue losses are imminent. No Decision Yet on J-Turn Proposals
Officials with the Indiana Department of Transportation are still undecided on whether or not to allow for the construction of J-turns at two intersections in Marshall County.
According to Northwest INDOT District Media Relations Director Doug Moats, a decision could come in the next couple of weeks.

Architect Provides Report to Argos School Board Following Recent Site and Building Review

Culver School Board Approves Donation, Elementary Principal Reports Awarded Grant Funds
Thousands of dollars will go toward technology at Culver Community Schools thanks to a donation from the Parent Teacher Organization. At the Culver Community School Board meeting Monday evening, board members approved a $3,000 donation from the Culver PTO.
Superintendent Karen Shuman said the members of the PTO have been meeting with Technology Director Daniel Medesi to determine where the money would be best spent. Continue reading

Hunters are reminded to stay safe while using tree stands. Over the weekend, an Illinois man broke eight bones in his neck and back when he fell from a tree stand while deer hunting in Newton County, according to Indiana Conservation Officers.
Howl-o-Ween: Trims and Treats Fundraiser to Assist Marshall County Humane Society
From 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. today (Tuesday) the clinic is holding their Howl-o-Ween: Trims and Treats event where individuals can have their pet’s nails trimmed for $10. One-hundred percent of the proceeds collected will go to the Marshall County Humane Society. Several students from Plymouth High School have volunteered to help out with the event.
Costumes are optional and walk-ins are welcome. One staff member has made some colorful candy baskets to provide to patrons. All offered treats for people and pets will be peanut-free.

Teen Arrested after Entering Plymouth Home
A Plymouth teenager was arrested Sunday morning after entering a residence in the 300 Block of Plum Street.
Plymouth police say 19-year-old Edgar Herrera attempted to break open a window at the residence. Herrera made it to door and when the homeowner opened the door Herrera entered the residence, according to the report. Herrera then reportedly laid down on the owner’s couch and went to sleep. Culver Town Council Approves Increased Pay for Advanced Paramedics
The Culver Town Council approved an ordinance amendment that increases the hourly wage for a new advanced paramedic to a range from $10.00 to $15.50 an hour beginning Nov. 1.
EMS Director Kathy Hart thanked the council and noted that the increase will help attract advanced paramedics to the department. She said several applicants have turned away from the position after learning that the wages aren’t comparable to other area departments. This will allow Culver EMS to be more competitive when seeking applications. Continue reading
Bourbon, LaPorte Police Departments to Receive Grant Funding for Purchase of Body Armor
Some local police officers will soon have extra protection, thanks to a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. Several Indiana law enforcement agencies have gotten 50-50 matching grants to help buy ballistic or stab-resistant body armor, as part of the Bulletproof Vest Partnership. That’s according to the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.
Bremen Town Attorney Working on Towing Ordinance Amendment
The town attorney representing the Town of Bremen will be drafting an amendment to the town’s towing ordinance for the Bremen Town Council to consider soon.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy told MAX 98.3 FM News that the town wants to bring towing fees in line to current rates. The current ordinance doesn’t cover costs necessary for the act of towing junk vehicles, another issue the town council is looking to enforce. The town is looking into leasing land in order to store junk vehicles as there are over 60 that have been impounded.
The town council hopes to see a draft of the amendment at a meeting in November.
City Building Renovation Project Moving Along
The renovation project at the Plymouth City Building in its second month and things are progressing at a good pace, according to City Attorney Sean Surrisi who updated the Plymouth City Council on the progress last week.
“They’re still in the demolition phase,” reported Surrisi. “We’ve run into a couple of things. When you tear open an old building you run into things that you don’t anticipate. For the most part, we’re doing really well with the budget. They found some sort of unidentified well, or something, where they’re digging the elevator shaft. They brought the soil scientists back out and they examined it.” Continue reading

At the Argos School Board meeting last week some faculty members were recognized for their recent accomplishments.
Superintendent Ned Speicher recognized and congratulated the Jr./Sr. High School principal Nick Medich for the nomination for school of the year through the Advanced Placement Teacher Investment Program for Indiana (AP-TIP IN), offered by the University of Notre Dame. Culver School Board Scheduled to Ratify Collective Bargaining Agreement at Tonight’s Meeting
When the Culver Community School Board meets this evening they will discuss the ratification of the 2017-2018 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
A few weeks ago, Superintendent Karen Shuman shared that the teacher contract was 99 percent complete, they have just been working on correcting some language. She said the teacher’s union ratified the contract on October 24 and the next step is the board’s ratification tonight. Continue reading

AAA Tips for Drivers Attending Halloween Festivities
Many individuals will be utilizing their vehicles this week for various Halloween festivities. A study by the National Retail Federation found that Halloween parties for adults have been growing in popularity over the past decade. This means more adults will be out and about celebrating around the same time kids are walking from house to house to collect candy. Plymouth Meth Investigation Leads to Two Arrests
Two people were arrested, after police say they found meth during a search of a Plymouth home Friday morning. Officers with the Indiana State Police, Plymouth Police Department, and the Marshall County Drug Task Force say they got a warrant to search the home at 822 West Madison Street, after getting complaints about possible drug activity.
