The Shady Rest Committee will meet today to review soft proposals for organizations wishing to occupy the Shady Rest Home on Lincoln Highway in Plymouth.
The proposals indicate use, ownership, structure, ability to sustain operations and maintenance, and an approximate number of individuals who would benefit from services.
The Marshall County Home has been empty since Aug. 1. The historic structure formerly housed the Bowen Center operations and boasts two wings suitable for housing, meeting space, a kitchen, office space, and activity rooms.
The Marshall County Maintenance Department is maintaining the grounds and the officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Plymouth Police Department are patrolling the area.
It is the hope of the Marshall County Commissioners that a not-for-profit group expresses interest in helping meet the needs of residents in Marshall County.
The committee will meet at 2 p.m. today in the commissioners meeting room on the second floor of the Marshall County Building in Plymouth.
