The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety and the City Council meet tonight to discuss matters impacting the community. The Board of Public Works and Safety meeting will start first at 6 p.m.
Agenda items include a request from the utility superintendent about a water main extension at State Road 17 and W. Lake Avenue as well as an executive order from the city attorney regarding 408 Pierce Street.
Other requests consist of the Chamber of Commerce seeking permission to continue with downtown trick-or-treating this year and a temporary street closing by John Montgomery. The Mayor’s Youth Council will provide a request about the “Adopt a Street” project.
The City Council will convene at 6:30 p.m. or immediately following the adjournment of the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
City Attorney Sean Surrisi will present council members with a certified proposal to amend the zoning ordinance regarding solar energy systems in the City of Plymouth. In a previous Marshall County Commissioners meeting, an amendment to the ordinance was approved and now approval from the Plymouth City Council will be sought tonight. Potential plans to install solar energy systems in the area are what inspired this proposal to be put into place.
Another major item on the Plymouth City Council agenda is a resolution confirming the adoption of a declaratory resolution designating certain real estate within the City of Plymouth to be within an economic revitalization area for purposes of real property and personal property tax abatement pursuant. Michael Isban of American Containers came before City Council members at a previous meeting, seeking assistance to expand the operations of his business which has been a fixture in the Plymouth Community for 50 years.
Council members will also hear the second and third reading of multiple ordinances, including an ordinance to fix salaries of appointed officers and city employees for 2018, one addressing 2018 appropriations and tax rates and another to vacate Allen Street.
Remember, due to ongoing construction at City Hall, both meetings will take place in the meeting room at the Fire Department on 111 N Center Street. Individuals attending are asked to use the south entrance.
