The building that formerly housed a gas station at the corner of State Road 106 and State Road 331 has been razed. The Town of Bremen is working to clean up the area to present a cleaner spot in that part of town.
Director of Operations Trend Weldy said more work is planned.
“I’ve got somebody hired to tear the canopy down. It’s been there for 10 years. The school has approached us and they want to put an information sign there. If that goes, the town will go in with them and put a flashing information there. That’s a busy intersection and that’ll get the word out to a lot of people about what’s happening in town,” said Weldy.
The Bremen Town Council ordered the gas station to be torn down a few months ago. The tanks also need to be removed, but that may take a longer time as permits need to be granted for that process by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
