51st Annual Marshall County Blueberry Festival Continues through Monday

The Marshall County Blueberry Festival hits full stride today as activities ramp up during this year’s 51st annual celebration.

The Blueberry Bicycle Cruise has different start times this morning while girls fast pitch softball and other sporting events begin at 8a.m.

The festival officially opens at 9 a.m. with the ABATE Blueberry Bike Show, the garden tractor pull, RC car racing, music, and the hot air balloon launch at 6:45 p.m. today.

More events are scheduled for Sunday including the Hoosier Old Wheels car show, and the hot air balloon launch and Plymouth Optimist pancake breakfast first thing in the morning. The festival opens again at 9 a.m. with the firemen’s waterball tournament, the skateboard competition, corn hole tournament, the hot air balloon glow at 8 p.m. and the fireworks show at 9:15 p.m.

Monday’s highlights include the blueberry stomp and the parade at 9:30 a.m. The route covers Baker Street, North Michigan Street and Garro Street. This year’s grand marshal is original Blueberry Festival board member Mike Boys. Honorary parade marshals include Mark Vanderweele, Sharon and Larry Lemler, Eric Thornton, Trent Bennett, and Eric Anderson. You will also see the 2017 Miss Blueberry Festival Queen Brianna Rose Andrews.

The festival officially closes at 6 p.m. on Monday.
