Plymouth City Wheel Tax Ordinance Tabled

Plymouth City Attorney Sean Surrisi gave the city council members the proposed ordinance for a municipal excise surtax and a municipal wheel tax on second reading.

Surrisi recommended setting the maximum rate to capture money for the construction of roads and streets.

“That’s a $25 rate under the surtax on passenger vehicles, motorcycles, trucks under 11,000 pounds, and motor driven cycles,” explained Surrisi. “Under the wheel tax which applies to the heavier vehicles a $40 rate on buses, recreational vehicles, semi-trailers, tractors, trailers, and trucks.”

The council tabled the ordinance to be discussed during their regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the city council chambers in the city building.
