The Marshall County Historical Museum invites you to pack a lunch on September 9th and join them from noon to 1 p.m during their “Shiver Me Timbers” Historic Barn Revival Brown Bag Presentation. Mindy Langdon, Museum Community Relations, said they take into consideration that some people may need to get back to work if they’re attending the presentation during their lunch break so 10 minutes is allotted at the end for a Q&A but people are free to leave at this time.
The presenters are Marshall County Commissioner Kurt Garner and Historian R.T. Henke. Both men are preservationists and according to Langdon, they will speak about various topics pertaining to historic barns.
“Kurt is going to talk about more new preservation development”, she said, “and R.T. Henke is going to be talking about documenting your barn, exploring the distinct style and talking about some tax deductions you can take if you own a historic barn.”
Langdon said many people fail to realize the importance of preserving and documenting barns in the area. She feels they are a vital part of our rural culture and landscape. Although people are encouraged to bring a lunch to the presentation, people are of course welcome to come by food-free to hear the speakers.
