The Culver Tree Commission members will plant 25 trees this fall. Several trees were removed due to the Safe Routes to School sidewalk replacement project, while other areas around town could use new plantings.
Tree Commission member Ruth Tamminga presented the Culver Town Council with a map of where the trees would be located and noted that the cost will be $7,500 to plant the trees. The commission will contract with Dogwood Hills Tree Farm to supply and plant the trees along Academy, Lakeview, College, School, South Main, South Plymouth and East Washington Streets. That list could be amended as the members will prioritize the list.
Tamminga said a different variety of trees will be planted as it’s important to have diversity.
