Demolition has begun on the old gas station on the corner of State Roads 106 and 331 in Bremen.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy said the building has been razed and the canopy will be the next item to fall. Once that is complete, the ground will be leveled. Weldy said the timeline to remove the underground gas tanks will be six to eight months, according to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
There is a plan to speak to the state about widening the road in that area to make it easier for semi drivers to negotiate the corner.
An overall plan for that space has not been approved.
Meanwhile, the management at Casey’s General Store will be asking the Bremen Board of Zoning Appeals for a special exemption use. That business is looking to occupy the former Burger King property on W. Plymouth Street.
