Marshall County Council to Meet Today

Marshall County Commissioner Kurt Garner will appear before the Marshall County Council members to offer the county’s road plan for the Community Crossings grant.

The commissioners approved the list last week and intend to have the input of the council and MACOG before submitting the final list to the state for consideration. The match is 75/25 this year and will be more competitive as smaller communities will be able to put in their project proposals as the local match is lower than in past years.

The grant request will include Beech Road from U.S. 6 to 3B Road, 17th Road/Dewey Street between Linden and South Michigan Street, 9th Road from Pioneer Drive to the county line west, Dogwood Road from the county line to State Road 331, old U.S. 31 in LaPaz to Tyler Road, and 13th Road from State Road 17 to Olive Trail.

The total cost of the approved list will be $1,461,250.

The council will also welcome Culver Town Council President Ginny Bess Munroe and Town Manager Jonathan Leist concerning the town’s quest in seeking the Stellar Communities Designation Program grant. They are seeking support from the county council in this year’s application.

The council will hear from CASA representative Chastity Keller about a grant application request, the members will discuss an ordinance concerning the West Township Trustee recommended salaries and review the quarterly report from the Marshall County Museum.

The Marshall County Council will meet at 9 a.m. in the second floor meeting room in the Marshall County Building in Plymouth.
