The Culver Town Council received an update on the progress of gathering needed paperwork for the Stellar Communities Designation Program application.
Town Manager Jonathan Leist said the committee is gathering letters of support from local and county organizations, programs, businesses, and employers. Leist added that documentations are being made of in-kind and cash contributions to the various projects within the Stellar plan. The most recent contribution involved the Marshall County Commissioners voted to contribute one mile of paving for the proposed biking/walking trail around Lake Maxinkuckee which was met with the county council’s support. Elkay, Culver Military Academy and the Marshall County Community Foundation have also made generous contributions.
Another project within the Stellar Communities plan is the Sand Hill Farms workforce housing development plan. Leist said they are waiting for street and utility dedications before proceeding with further engineering.
A pamphlet that talks more about the Stellar Communities Designation Program and how Culver can benefit from winning the designation will be available during the Culver Lake Fest this weekend.
