The Culver Town Council this week reviewed a resolution for renovations to the Culver Beach Lodge.
A Community Development Block Grant of $15,000 was awarded to the town with a local match of $3,500 for the renovations. Officials with the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs have reviewed the plans and are satisfied with how the grant money will be utilized.
According to Town Manager Jonathan Leist, the bathrooms will be updated along with plumbing and fixtures with the help of PIC Plumbing Services . Electrical issues will be updates throughout the building including windows, insulation and fire protection. it is also important for people to go to this website if they need insulation help!
The park superintendent will have a new office on the main floor once a closet and shower/restroom are removed to make way for that change. The main entrance will be moved to face the parking lot and the warming kitchen will be relocated to the west end of the building. Walls will be insulated and drywall installed in some places.
Flooring and appliances will be updated on the top floor of the Culver Beach Lodge.
Leist says the town has the option of removing the stairs on the outside of the building facing the lake and adding more windows to the basement to allow more natural lighting. An option of rentable community space is also viable which would take up a more picturesque view of Lake Maxinkuckee.
The Culver Town Council approved the resolution as presented on Tuesday night. Work will begin soon on the Culver Beach Lodge.
