Public Hearing Set for Plymouth Superintendent’s Contract

A hearing is scheduled for tomorrow to hear public comment on the next superintendent’s contract at the Plymouth Community School Corporation.

The contract calls for an annual salary of $120,000 with an annual board contribution to group health/dental/vision insurance premium in the amount of $23,285. An annuity would come to $7,200 with life insurance of $374.40 a year. Gasoline allowance would be estimated at $3,500 with a $600 phone allowance.

The superintendent will get a 12 sick days and 20 vacation days in addition to recognized holiday breaks provided to all staff members in the school calendar.

The Plymouth Community School Board will review the salary and benefits each year and may approve changes in the base salary, contributions or allowances. The board may also determine an amount to be awarded under the performance-based pay provisions of the contract.

The superintendent will be evaluated by the board and rated using the same categories applied to teachers and other administrators.

The contract would be valid from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020.

Superintendent Dan Tyree will be retiring at the end of June after serving 41 years in education.

Any member of the public who would like to comment on the terms of the superintendent’s contract may do so on Wednesday, May 31 at 6 p.m. in the meeting room in the administration building on the school’s campus.
