A quote will be considered for the microsurface project this spring in the City of Plymouth.
One bid was received for the project which was opened by City Attorney Sean Surrisi during the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety meeting last week. The single quote of $415,972.78 was submitted by Pavement Solutions, Inc in Middletown, Indiana. City Engineer Rick Gaul explained that there aren’t too many companies close around that can complete the project. He found 11 companies and contacted four of them that were within 200 miles. Two companies attended the pre-bid meeting.
The process of mircosurfacing includes a polymer-modified cold-application paving product designed to set quickly and uses high-quality aggregates to provide a long-lasting wearing surface on strong pavements.
The quote was taken under advisement to be awarded at the next meeting.
Surrisi also opened four bids for the spring street and sidewalk projects. The bids ranged from $431,000 to $518,000. The lowest bid was submitted by Walsh and Kelly, Inc. out of South Bend. Surrisi and Gaul will review the bids submitted and a bid will be awarded at the next meeting.
The Ledyard Plant filter building roof replacement quote was also awarded. Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson said the quote from Morris and Sons Roofing was for $95,922 with an additional $20 per square foot cost for decking replacement. He explained that only $80,000 was budgeted for the project, but several specification changes were made. The board approved the quote and the movement of money within the department’s budget to cover the extra costs needed to adequately complete the project.
