INDOT’s State Road 17 resurfacing project is expected to begin on Michigan Street today.
Walsh and Kelly, Inc. will be milling and paving Michigan Street from 7C Road through the downtown area for the next two weeks, depending on the weather.
During the paving process, traffic will be reduced to one lane in areas, but no detours are anticipated.
The Michigan Road project is encompassed within the State Road 17 resurfacing project as it is part of the INDOT state road system. The State Road 17 project is a part of a bundle project that includes asphalt resurfacing on U.S. 31 from State Road 10 to 13th Road. The U.S. 31 portion of the project will be completed on Nov. 3.
The total cost for both projects is $7.7 million.
