Marshall County Officials Set to Attend INDOT Meeting

Officials from the Indiana Department of Transportation will hold a meeting at the La Porte District office to inform city, town and county officials about how to utilize the Community Crossings Local Road and Bridge Matching Grant Fund. More specific information will be given about projects eligible for funding, how to submit projects for matching funds, deadlines for project submissions, timelines for distributing funds and development of an asset manager plan.

The meeting is additionally geared to provide details and answer questions concerning this year’s proposed road funding legislation that releases more funding for projects.

The Marshall County Commissioners and Marshall County Council members will be attending with Highway Administrator Laurie Baker and Highway Supervisor Jason Peters. Representatives from the towns of LaVille, Culver, Argos, Bourbon and Bremen are also expected to be at the information session.

Smaller communities like LaVille, Culver, Argos, Bourbon and Bremen are eligible for a 75/25 match with the Community Crossings Local Road and Bridge grant. The county and larger communities like Plymouth can apply for a 50/50 match.

Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy said the town council there hopes to be able to fund $1 million worth of road projects with this grant match opportunity.

The LaPorte District meeting is set for Wednesday, May 31.
