The town of Argos is making plans for the future as the town council adopted a comprehensive plan this week.
According to Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney, the plan includes a road map for the town for future development and growth. Plans include industrial, residential and housing developments through the year 2030.
Donnie Ritsema from Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) told MAX 98.3 FM News that the comprehensive plan is a guiding document for the town, residents, and business owners to collaborate for future needs for the next 20 years. The document includes short-term prioritized projects to occur in the next five to seven years.
A public hearing was held in February where over 40 community members were appreciative that the town council has a vision for the town in economic and residential growth.
One step in that direction occurred Wednesday night when the town approved the purchase of Colonial Estates for residential development. Twelve lots will be developed for housing. The installation of infrastructure will be discussed, along with development plans, in a future meeting.
