Plymouth City Council Approves Tax Abatement

A Plymouth business will be expanding.

Officials with Farm Innovators, Inc. and the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation appeared before the Plymouth City Council Monday night to request a seven-year, real property tax phase-in in order to expand the business. The company is an agribusiness leader in the deicer and heated products market.

The council previously approved the company’s location as an economic revitalization area.

Farm Innovators, Inc., a Marshall County company since 1983, will be investing approximately $400,000 in an upcoming building expansion. Increased sales and the introduction of new products have allowed the company to expand the Plymouth facility. A 15,000 square foot addition will be constructed to accommodate new machinery and product storage.

With the structure expansion, comes employee expansion. Twenty-three, full-time employees are currently at the facility. This project will include five more full-time employees and more as time progresses.

Farm Innovators, Inc. is instrumental in the development of products that provide livestock with drinkable water in cold climates, as well as heated pet bowls, Thermo Cube temperature activated electric outlets, and state-of-the-art deicers. They distribute over a million units annually.

The council members unanimously approved the tax abatement request in order for the business to further succeed.
