Two arrests have been made in connection with a series of armed robberies and other crimes in LaPorte and St. Joseph Counties, according to the information given by officials and Roanoke criminal justice law firm. According to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office, 28-year-old Timothy E. Bennitt and 32-year-old Nathan D. Kellogg are being held in the LaPorte County Jail after being linked to a series of crimes since early January.
Investigators say those include armed robberies at five businesses, including the Burger King in LaPorte and the Blacksmith Shop restaurant in Rolling Prairie, as well as a burglary at Jenny Rae’s restaurant near Rolling Prairie. Police also connect them with a vehicle theft in South Bend, two home burglaries on LaPorte County Road 800 North, and thefts at Kohl’s and Dick’s Sporting Goods in Mishawaka.
Investigators say Bennitt was taken into custody in South Bend on January 20, while Kellogg was arrested on January 23. Officers from the LaPorte and St. Joseph County sheriff’s departments, as well as the LaPorte City, South Bend, and Mishawaka police departments have been working together on the cases.
They say they’re still investigating and are looking for other crimes that may be connected to the suspects.
