The City of Plymouth has renewed some of its agreements with various service providers for another year. On Monday, the Plymouth Common Council decided to keep Ralph Booker as the city’s planning consultant. That actually required the council to approve two separate agreements.
One is an intergovernmental agreement with Marshall County for nearly $7,800. That agreement covers the work Booker does for the city during the county’s business hours. The other agreement is with Booker himself, for work he does for the city at other times, such as attending meetings. That one costs just over $7,600, making a slight increase from 2016 in both agreements.
Council member Mike Delp felt that sharing a planning consultant with Marshall County has worked out well. “I think Ralph does a great job,” Delp said. “I’m on the plan commission, and I think he does a very thorough job and I appreciate the county sharing him with us because, overall, I think it’s cost-saving for the City of Plymouth. So I think it’s a great way to go.”
But last year, the Marshall County Commissioners nearly rejected the agreement, due to concerns about Booker’s workload.
Also this week, the Plymouth Board of Works approved a $30,000 agreement with the Marshall County Humane Society for animal control services in 2017.
