The Marshall County Health Department’s new offices should be completed next week. The department is moving to the Community Resource Center to make room for the expansion of the County Prosecutor’s Office in the Marshall County Building.
During Monday’s Marshall County Commissioners meeting, Commissioner Kurt Garner reported that the finishing touches are being put on the new Health Department offices. He said all the walls are in place and now carpeting and cabinetry are being installed this week.
The commissioners also approved an agreement for the installation of a VOIP phone system, using the Metronet fiber optic lines. Its installation at the Health Department is seen as a way to test out the technology before potentially rolling it out to the rest of the county offices. County officials hope to see a reduction in phone bills with the switch.
