The Marshall County Council plans to revisit its decision to make more county employees eligible for overtime pay. Changes at the federal level that were set to take effect December 1 would have required employees making less than about $47,000 to be eligible for overtime.
Earlier this month, the county council approved the change to non-overtime-exempt status for those employees, while the county commissioners seemed to prefer avoiding the issue by raising pay over the required threshold. But now the implementation of the new overtime rule appears to be in doubt, after it was blocked in federal court. The issue is scheduled to be discussed during a special Marshall County Council meeting this morning at 9:00 a.m. in the Marshall County Building.
Also on the agenda is a grant request from Marshall County’s Court Appointed Special Advocates. The organization’s volunteers work to help abused and neglected kids through the court system.
