Several Marshall County employees will not become eligible for overtime pay tomorrow, after all. Changes at the federal level that were set to take effect December 1 would have required employees making less than about $47,000 to be eligible for overtime. Earlier this month, the county council approved the change to non-overtime-exempt status for those employees.
But now that those new rules have been deemed unconstitutional, the county council decided Tuesday to reverse its decision. That puts those employees back where they were, in regard to overtime eligibility.
Also during Tuesday’s special meeting, council members approved a salary ordinance and voted to allow the county’s Court Appointed Special Advocates to proceed with a grant application.
