Plymouth Street Improvements Continue

Plymouth IndianaThe City of Plymouth is making progress on several of its street projects. Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt told the Board of Works Monday that work on South Michigan and Western Avenue is complete. “The micro-paving jobs are both done,” he said. “They got finished on Sunday. They did Western on Saturday and Sunday. I think it looks pretty good, looking at it. We will still need to paint it in about a couple weeks. There’s some temporary yellow stripes on the middle. They started on Eastwood subdivision [Monday] and have about half of that done. It’s a little different process. It’s only a one coat, and like I said, it’s a slurry seal.”

Marquardt added that if the micro-paving technique proves successful, Plymouth may use it for additional street projects if the city gets grant funding from the state’s Community Crossings program.

Additionally, the railroad crossing at Harrison Street was being repaired Monday by Pioneer Railroad, but it was up to the city to lay asphalt. Marquardt hoped to have the work done by this morning. Repairs to the Jefferson Street railroad crossing are set to get underway after the Marshall County Blueberry Festival.
