HVRM Continues Holiday Excursion Tradition

HVRMThe Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum plans to continue a December tradition the whole family can enjoy.

A vintage commuter coach is used the first three Saturday’s in December to take passengers through the Starke County countryside. The ride, according to a press release from the museum, travels about five miles north of North Judson to English Lake. The trip takes about one hour to complete after crossing the Kankakee River.

The HVRM has one of the largest museum collections of working railroad signals, and provides historical resources to area visitors.

The coach will depart at three different times through the weekends of December 5th, 12th, and 19th.

As part of the excursion, “Santa Claus” often finds himself stranded along the tracks. That’s after, according to museum officials, “his reindeer ran off with his sleigh.” Children present on the trip will get a chance to meet Santa and receive a gift.

The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum says they offer ticketing services online for the excursion.
