Town Prepares for Taste of Culver

Culver is preparing for an annual festival that brings food and music to the downtown.

Organizers of “Taste of Culver” – sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce in Culver – requested approval of several items by the Town Council on Tuesday night. The event closes Jefferson Street one day each June to allow vendors to set-up tents.

Organizer Cheryl Rhodes says it’s expected to see many returning vendors.

“Almost all the restaurants that have previously been here have already signed up,” says Rhodes. “Most people want to be where they were before.”

Jefferson was requested to be closed from Main Street to Ohio Street to make room for the festivities. The Culver Town Council approved the request unanimously.

Organizers of the event also requested a special permit to allow a beer garden. Town Manager Jonathan Leist says several beer vendors are scheduled to attend, and Police Chief Wayne Bean had a bit of a concern.

“His main concern was just fencing and making sure that that section was separate from the rest of it,” says Leist.

The permit for the beer garden was accepted by the Town Council as well. Leist instructed organizers to meet with the town to ensure proper set-up prior to the festival.

Electricity from the Town still needs to be requested. Taste of Culver will be held June 13th.
