ACA Enrollment Deadline This Week

The enrollment deadline for the Healthcare Marketplace is coming up, and IU Health says they continue to provide resources for individuals.

The deadline for enrollment is February 15th. There are dozens of plans available to Hoosiers on the marketplace.

IU Health Lead Navigator Monica Chapman says there could be consequences without enrolling.

“There will be a penalty for those that didn’t enroll by the 15th of February which is a hefty penalty,” says Chapman. “I mean, $325 per person in the household, or 2-percent of their income. Whichever is greater.”

IU Health is also working to capture individuals who qualify through a new state health plan.

HIP 2.0 was granted federal approval recently with applications currently being accepted. IU Health says they work with individuals who come through the hospital to assist them financially.

Chapman says the two can often work together.

“We would definitely try to enroll them in the marketplace and if they’re within the income guidelines for HIP 2.0, the way it’s setup in the Healthcare.gov system, it will notify you that they’re HIP 2.0 eligible, and then that’s sent to the state,” says Chapman.

Thousands of Hoosiers have signed-up for the programs.
