Marshall County Election Board Seeks Alternate Vote Center Site
The National Guard Armory in Plymouth is undergoing renovations and cannot be used as a Vote Center for the May Primary Election.
With the unavailability of the 12th vote center site, the Marshall County Election Board members Tuesday morning discussed simply moving forward with 11 vote centers or finding an alternate site. Clerk Deb Vandemark suggested checking on availability at the Knights of Columbus building in Plymouth to host more machines. Parking may be an issue, but the building would offer enough space and it would meet Vote Center requirements.
Vote Centers Perform During Primary
The vote center model worked smoothly according to the Marshall County Election Board.
This was the first year the process was used. It’s designed to allow residents of Marshall County an opportunity to cast a ballot at any of the available polling locations. Poll pad technology will provide voters with the proper ballot.

Voters Head to Polls for Primary

LaPaz Fire Station Selected for Vote Center Site, Accessibility Work Forthcoming
LaPaz has seen its fire station designated as a vote center location by the Marshall County Commissioners.
Marshall County Clerk Debbie Vandemark explained to the Commissioners Tuesday morning that the county’s Election Board traveled to the site for inspection.

Vote Centers Ready to Move into Planning Phase in Marshall County
Check another item off the list for changing Marshall County into a vote center county.
The idea is to reduce the number of polling sites, but to allow registered voters to cast the proper ballot from any of the locations based on a state identification. Marshall County has already purchased e-poll books to aid in the process.

Marshall County Further Pursuing Vote Center Model
Marshall County plans to further consider implementing a vote center concept during election season.
County Clerk Debbie Vandemark said the Election Board is ready to move ahead with the idea following the acquisition of electronic poll books. About 1/3 of the counties in Indiana are now using the model. Under the proposal, the polling sites in Marshall County could be used by anyone properly registered to vote and residing in the county.
