Calling all Plumbers, Electricians and Carpenters! Your Help is Needed with Flood Recovery Efforts

While the water may have receded months ago, recovery crews in Marshall County have been working nonstop since the flood hit the area hard, back in February.

Linda Yoder who serves as the Director of Marshall County United Way and the Long-Term Flood Relief Committee shared that right after the flooding, there were 113 homes that needed to be restored. There are now less than 30 homes where work is still needed. Continue reading

Community Members Show Support for Rees Theater Renovation Project in Multiple Ways

More than thirty Marshall County residents turned up at the Rees Theater on Saturday to participate in a clean-up event.

Representatives report that an energized group of about 34 volunteers worked for hours, clearing out old theater seats, removing curtains, debris, insulation and carpet. By the end of the day two large dumpsters were filled and all unneeded materials were cleared from the building. Continue reading

Blood Shortage Prompts Red Cross to Issue Urgent Call for Eligible Donors of All Blood Types

The American Red Cross saw a dip in the number of blood drives held during the beginning of July and it has prompted them to issue an urgent call for eligible donors of all blood types.

According to a press release, the Red Cross delivers blood donations to 80 hospitals across the Indiana-Ohio Blood Services region and needs an average of 500 blood donations each day to support patient needs. Continue reading

New Culver “BEAR” Program Aims to Identify Needs and Develop Solutions for Local Businesses

Providing support to local businesses is a priority in Culver. Town Manager Jonathan Leist made a statement earlier this month, explaining that Culver is dedicated to planning projects that will help the community grow and improve the quality of life in the area. He went on to say that officials are now turning their focus to another important part of the community, small businesses.

In order to show their dedication to helping local business owners, the Town of Culver is teaming up with the Culver Main Street Corporation as well as the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation to launch the Culver Business Expansion and Retention (CBEAR) program. Continue reading
