With information swirling concerning COVID-19, U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski says residents should follow the guidelines given by the Indiana State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
She stressed that health departments on the local level are working hard.
“We have incredible people at the local level,” stated Walorski. “We have an unbelievable amount of resources and help from the state level as well. It’s still very important and still very dangerous. I just want to encourage all of your listeners and all of the constituents in the 2nd District to really heed in the next 14 days this issue of not being in large gatherings, not being in gatherings more than 10 people, but really just staying home.”
Most public places have closed to limit access which includes bars and restaurants, and small businesses. Walorski said financial relief is expected.
“Last week we passed a bill with multiple billions of dollars and in there there’s a lot of help for SBA. There are a lot of interest-free loans and there’s a lot of different kinds of help coming down. The Senate is going to vote on that very bill today and they’re going to move that bill today. That will allow the president to sign it and money will start flowing. There will be help for employees. There’s going to be a lot of help for employers. In many ways, it should help calm the fears of ‘what if I lose my job’ and ‘what if I’m laid off’ because that is happening. We’re doing everything we can at the federal level to make sure Hoosier are taken care of and I’m confident they will be.”
More information on those bills should be released later today.
