Triton School Board Adjusts Bus Driver Pay Scale to be More Competitive

In order to recruit more bus drivers, Triton School Board members amended their bus driver pay scale when they met Monday night.

Superintendent Jeremy Riffle said that having a shortage of available bus drivers is a pretty common problem for most schools right now. Riffle said he made some calls to surrounding school corporations to get a more competitive pay scale established for Triton’s drivers.

Superintendent Riffle said, “For level zero it’s $65 and it goes all the way up to level 25 where it’s $86.” The superintendent explained that a bus driver at “level zero” is still in their first year of employment. Continue reading

Triton Transportation Director Delivers Presentation on Bus Safety and the Importance of Bus Drivers

As the first member of school personnel that many children see in the morning and the last one they may see at the end of the day, bus drivers play an important role in students’ lives as they have the potential to set the tone for the day.

That’s according Triton’s Corporation Secretary and Transportation Director Mindy Klotz. At Monday night’s school board meeting, Klotz shared some important info about bus safety and the corporation’s bus drivers, who she referred to as unsung heroes. Continue reading
