The idea of allowing alcoholic beverages in the Culver Beach Lodge during private events drew a mixed reaction during a public input session held by the town council Tuesday. Such a move might make it easier to hold weddings at the new Damore Amphitheater, followed by a reception in the Beach Lodge. The town is looking at putting policies in place that would allow people to rent the amphitheater, including potential fees and guidelines.
John Glenn Education Foundation Gala Set for Feb. 17
A fundraising event will be held to raise funds to help teachers apply their out-of-the-box ideas to enhance the learning experience for students.
A fundraising gala is set for Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth where a silent auction will occur after a sit-down dinner. All proceeds will benefit the John Glenn Education Foundation. That money will be awarded in the form of grants to help fund enhanced training, teaching techniques or new styles of learning. The Teacher Grants Committee reviews all grant applications and the grants will be awarded as funds allow. The idea is to bridge the gap between need and funding.

Superintendent Richard Reese told the John Glenn School Board this week that a silent auction is planned along with music and dinner. The cost is $75 a couple. All proceeds will go toward the John Glenn Education Foundation that helps fund out-of-the-box projects for teachers to boost the education of students. Continue reading
Made in Marshall County Continues Today
The Marshall County Economic Development Corporation wants to link local businesses to students who are familiarizing themselves with potential career paths. That is why the MCEDC hosts the Made in Marshall County event, where companies have the opportunity to appeal directly to prospective employees.
Due to last year’s success, the event this year was expanded to take place over two days and includes more than 800 students from across Marshall County. Yesterday, participating businesses had the chance to connect with around 650 students about their specific products, workplaces and potential career paths.
Today, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Swan Lake Resort and Conference Center businesses will discuss job openings and internship opportunities with approximately 170 high school seniors. Continue reading

The annual Plymouth Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner and Awards night is set for Thursday, Nov. 16.
Small Business, Mid-Sized Business, Large Business, Non-Profit, and Distinguished Business Person awards will be given throughout the evening following dinner.
John Glenn School Board Approves Teacher Longevity Gifts
Teachers at the John Glenn School Corporation who have been in the education profession for 20 years or longer will receive an appreciation gift. Gift cards will be purchased from the Swan Lake Resort.
Superintendent Richard Reese asked the school board for permission to purchase seven gift cards in the amount of $190 for non-certified and certified teachers who have been dedicated to education for at least two decades. Continue reading
