Plymouth school officials will take comments on teacher compensation and collective bargaining during tonight’s school board meeting. State law now requires that members of the public be given a chance to weigh in, before bargaining officially begins.

Bremen Public Schools is increasing pay for substitute teachers. The school board last week agreed to pay subs $100 per day, according to Superintendent Dr. Jim White. “I think in the fall, we’re going to have a really difficult time attracting and keeping subs, and I think it’s worth a little bit of battle pay,” White says.

In order to avoid being left behind, school board members agreed to enter into a partnership with NEOLA, an organization that will help them incorporate all applicable state laws and regulations into their school policies.
