Plymouth school officials will take comments on teacher compensation and collective bargaining during tonight’s school board meeting. State law now requires that members of the public be given a chance to weigh in, before bargaining officially begins.

Bremen Public Schools is increasing pay for substitute teachers. The school board last week agreed to pay subs $100 per day, according to Superintendent Dr. Jim White. “I think in the fall, we’re going to have a really difficult time attracting and keeping subs, and I think it’s worth a little bit of battle pay,” White says.

Bremen School Board members received a brief update about NEOLA policy upgrades at their Monday night meeting.
Superintendent Dr. Jim White previously shared that up until recently, Bremen officials were writing their own policies. In order to avoid being left behind, school board members agreed to enter into a partnership with NEOLA, an organization that will help them incorporate all applicable state laws and regulations into their school policies.
