Triton Students to Explore the Ecosystems of Ecuador in the Summer of 2019

The Triton Science Club will be getting some first-hand learning experience with a proposed trip to Ecuador in the summer of 2019! That’s according to school Superintendent Jeremy Riffle.

Superintendent Riffle reported that at their last meeting, Triton school board members approved the trip to proposed by Dawn Slein​. Slein is a faculty member at the high school who teaches Biology, Advanced Placement Biology and serves as the instructor for the Biomedical Project Lead the Way program.

She said that so far, she has six students who are planning to join her on this immersive learning opportunity that will explore the ecosystems of Ecuador. The trip will take place after commencement ceremonies next year and will last a total of 11 days. Continue reading

Triton School Corporation Recognized as IDOE Digital Learning Grant Recipient

The Triton School Corporation was recently recognized as one of the recipients of the 2018 Digital Learning Grants offered through the Indiana Department of Education’s Office of eLearning.

IDOE said the grants were offered for districts developing a new focus for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics instruction or computer science within their digital learning environment.

Triton Schools involve technology in many aspects of instruction for students of all ages, ranging from interactive lessons on iPads at the elementary school level all the way to hands-on STEM curriculum in their Project Lead the Way Classes at the high school. Continue reading

Triton Students Will Be Receiving New Computers for Project Lead the Way Classes

Triton schools will be receiving more than 20 new computers to assist with Project Lead the Way curriculum, following a decision made by Triton School Board members on Monday.

Members approved a quote of $16,258 from DakTech for 22 computers to assist with Project Lead the Way. Superintendent Jeremy Riffle explained that the older computers didn’t have necessary features that are required for particular lessons. Continue reading

Marshall County Community Foundation Distributes $66,210 in Grant Funds

Over $66,000 in grants was awarded to 10 organizations in Marshall County Thursday afternoon.

The Marshall County Community Foundation held its second round of 2014 Community Fund grants where non-profit organizations submitted proposals for specific projects. Linda Yoder, Executive Director of the Marshall County Community Foundation explained that the Community Fund is one of the most flexible and responsive of the Foundation’s 318 funds.

The Plymouth Tennis Club received the largest grant worth $25,000 for improvement of the tennis courts in Centennial Park. The Crossing Educational Center was the recipient of $9,500 for startup costs for the alternative school for at-risk students.
